Karol Paciorek, Manager of CSIRT KNF, joined a discussion panel titled ‘Cyber Poland fragmentation by ministry: will PCOC and S46 Cyber Hub change this?’, held as part of the conference ‘SYS46 Cyber Hub. The centre of Poland’s national cybersecurity system: one system, shared protection’, organised by the Ministry of Digital Affairs and NASK.

During the panel, Karol Paciorek has said that the financial market is characterised by a mature approach to cybersecurity. This translates into very good collaboration between market entities and CSIRT KNF, more effective response to attacks, and efficient exchange of experiences and information related to threats.

Karol Paciorek stressed that CSIRT KNF had helped streamline the way information about incidents was exchanged. Following the implementation of DORA, a reporting system was provided to enable faster and more structured communication in this area.

Karol Paciorek emphasised that cybersecurity should be treated holistically, by watching the whole landscape of threats to financial markets. He explained that incidents related to small firms should be treated with the same level of care as those that occur at the largest organisations, as incidents related to those firms might affect the security of the entire sector.

Karol Paciorek also referred to ‘moje.cert.pl’ – a solution available for free to various entities which supports cybersecurity management at organisations, for example through detection of vulnerabilities. CSIRT KNF, as a sector-specific team for cybersecurity, cooperated with CSIRT NASK in creating the space and solutions designed for each sector, acting as an adviser, sharing experiences and recommending functionalities and approaches that could work out well in practice.

• ‘As CSIRT KNF, we have set ourselves this goal that, apart from publishing annual reports, we will also be sharing a publication on the landscape of threats. In the publication, we indicate threats that we feel might materialise not only this year, but also next year,’ Karol Paciorek said.

In his opinion, creating an ecosystem for information exchange not only at the sectoral but also national level helps better understand the current situation in other areas of the economy and how this situation affects the state’s cybersecurity.
