Representatives of the UKNF at the IZFIA Seminar

Aleksandra Gromniak-Kołek – Deputy Director of the Investment and Pension Funds Department at the UKNF, spoke during the debate titled ‘Investor’s path across funds: where are the real barriers?’ as part of the IZFIA Capital Market Regulatory Seminar.

During the debate, she has assessed that the KNF, as the supervision authority, pays attention primarily to regulatory requirements in the context of threats, in particular from the perspective of clients’ interests, including requirements related to investment advice in the area of product offering. Investors should be aware that such a service is provided to them. Education and knowledge are important as it is thanks to them that investors will be able not only to make informed investment decisions but also recognise and use investment advisory services.

Aleksandra Gromniak-Kołek has pointed out that the UKNF is working on an IT tool that pools information on all available open-end investment funds and specialised open-end investment funds. The tool will be providing basic information to enable comparison of offers of various funds.

Rafał Niedbała – Director of the Investment and Pension Funds at the UKNF took part in the wrap-up session titled: ‘What's next for regulations? Market vs. regulators’. During the debate, he has emphasised the importance of reaching young clients and pointed to challenges related to the use of new technologies, e.g. tokenisation. He has stressed that this will require cooperation among the regulator, the industry, and the supervisor. The common interest of the supervisor and the regulator lies in enabling the creation – within the framework of applicable law – of rational products for business, while minimising risks on the client’s side. Rafał Niedbała has emphasised that all the stakeholders – the regulator, the supervisor and the market – cooperate in this regard, and the development of stable regulations remains of key importance.
