Marcin Mikołajczyk, Deputy Chair of the KNF, took part in a jubilee marking the tenth anniversary of the SGB Protection Scheme.
In his speech, Marcin Mikołajczyk emphasised that the scheme, established in 2015 on the initiative of 191 cooperative banks and SGB-Bank S.A., reinforced the stability of the cooperative banking sector. He noted that since its beginnings, the aim of the SGB Protection Scheme had been to establish mechanisms for auditing, risk monitoring and mutual guarantee of obligations.
He reminded the audience that the last decade had been a period in which the SGB Protection Scheme had played a key role in restructuring processes, supported consolidation in the sector, and developed risk control tools, including in the area of AML and cybersecurity. Marcin Mikołajczyk also mentioned the important role of the associating bank, which supported the development of local banks by providing business and technological solutions.
He has stressed that the future of the SGB Protection Scheme is inseparably linked to the growing regulatory challenges and the need to address new threats, especially in the area of new technologies. He has emphasised that the KNF is open to dialogue and ready to continue cooperation, while expecting an active approach of protection scheme members so that the demands of the constantly changing market can be met.
